The river (brook) of my childhood. There were summers I spent every day hunting trout, I can still recite the pools/holes for the three-mile stretch I haunted: The Manor; The Brushpile; The Willows: Silver Bridge; Keonig’s Run; Koenig’s Hole, The Trainbridge; The Banana Hole; The Bend; Fairview Ave Hole; Bedspring Pool; Elks Run; Becker’s Pool; MsDevitts Pool (Brookside Park); Tommy’s Hole.
Cool to think that you could take a train from Grand Central and hop off at the Lordville riff four hours later.! Below is a Polaroid I took of the Lordville Bridge around 1967. I still love the riff dearly, although it’s more of a hassle to access it these days by foot.
