Delaware River Shad

The river boasts a stellar run of May/June shad. It’s always a treat to spend a few hours battling these strong, sea-run fish.

Delaware West Branch at Dreamcatcher

This was taken on the Solstice, 2018. I floated with Ben Rinker at we were saturated with soft, summer showers. It only lasted about ten minutes, and the benefit was that amazing double rainbow. A lovely section of river.

L.I. Sound: Sherwood Island

Yeah, it’s not a river, but since its been a longtime fishing haunt for me (and it’s as beautiful as it can get) I decided to include it in this category. This was taken on a wild and chilly November morning stalking elusive Stripers.

Fred Hand & John Littlefield

Two of my dearest pals; We all attended Mannes College of Music together back in 1968. Fred is an amazing composer and virtuoso classical guitarist, and John is a wonderful flautist. John and I toured together as “Herrick & Handler” for ten years. Two truly wonderful and talented people!

Urge For Going

Written by Joni Mitchell; Performed by Tony Rice

I’ve always thought this was one of Joni Mitchell’s best. And I’m a great Tony Rice fan as well. The combination is hard to beat. And with John Carroll on piano as well!

Margaree River: “The Wash”

I brought my first Margaree salmon (a bright, July fish) to the net in this lovely pool. It’s a beautiful stretch of river, just outside Margaree Forks. One of my favorites.
